As we start to age, our skin can loosen and start to sag. While this is an entirely natural process, it is one of the most visible signs of aging. Many people feel that visibly aging can reduce their confidence and affect their self esteem. There are a range of procedures and processes that can help reduce the visible signs of aging. However, some of these are more invasive than others – and can have a variable success rate. Morpheus8 balances effectiveness with being minimally invasive.
What is Morpheus8?
Morpheus8 is a device that uses both microneedling and radio frequency technology to rejuvenate the appearance of skin. Morpheus8 is a subdermal adipose remodelling device (SARD). It is suitable for use both on the face and body. The Morpheus8 procedure is suitable for all skin types, and can be used alongside other treatments – both surgical and non-surgical. As it is a non-invasive procedure, patients have minimal recovery times.
What does it do?
Morpheus8 is a skin tightening, lifting and contouring procedure. It helps to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, improves skin textures and tones and tightens areas of skin laxity. This can help treat the visible signs of aging in the skin, and rejuvenate areas of skin.
Who is Morpheus8 for?
Morpheus8 can effectively treat a wide range of skin conditions. Broadly, these are all related to skin sagging, stretching and becoming discoloured. Morpheus8 can be used on:
- Loose or sagging skin
- Wrinkles and fine lines
- Under eye skin
- Stretch marks
- Acne scars
- Skin discolouration.
Not all skin treatments are suitable for all skin types. Sometimes, darker skin tones do not react in the same way to treatment. However, Morpheus8 is suitable for all skin tones.
How does it work?
Morpheus8 increases the production of collagen in the skin. It targets deeper layers of the skin through a combination of both microneedling and radio frequency technology. Morhpeus8 is a fractional RF device. It has 24 coated pins that penetrate into the deeper levels of the skin – the subdermal tissue. These pins coagulate the fat and contract the connective tissue to tighten and rejuvenate the area that is being treated.
How long does the procedure take?
Depending on how much skin needs to be treated, the Morpheus8 procedure can take anything upwards from 1 hour to a few hours. The more skin that we treat, the longer the process takes.
What do I need to do after the treatment?
Morpheus8 is a quick healing procedure. However, it is not immediate. You should be completely healed within a day or so. You may experience swelling or bruising around the area of treatment, but these are likely to disappear within a few days. Immediately after the treatment, you should take steps to avoid infection. This might include not putting anything on your face (including makeup or moisturiser), or even touching it. Your consultant will provide you with all the information you need on aftercare.
How quickly does it work?
You will probably start to see some results after a few days. However, the significant results will only start to become evident after a few months. The process of stimulating the production of collagen and elastin can take a few weeks to really begin. If you do not see results immediately, this does not mean the process is not working.
How many treatments do I need?
Depending on the area that we are treating, you may need more than one treatment appointment. Generally, you will need to have an annual maintenance session to prolong the effects. However, most cases will only need a single treatment session.
Are there any risks or side effects?
All procedures come with a few risks. However, Morpheus8 is a low-risk procedure. There is a high chance of some swelling and red flushing. However, it is likely that these side effects will pass after a few days.
