The Arm Lift Procedure with Dr. Sof
THE PROCEDURE
Choosing Dr. Sof at Renovatio Clinic for your arm lift surgery ensures expert care with appointments and procedures available either at our clinic or at various private hospitals across the North-West. Here’s what to expect on your arm lift journey:
Consultation and Evaluation: Your journey begins with a thorough consultation with Dr. Sof, where he will listen closely to your concerns, assess your arm anatomy, and discuss your contouring goals. Dr. Sof will determine if an arm lift, also known as brachioplasty, is the best option for achieving your desired outcome.
Preparation: On the day of your procedure, you’ll arrive at the designated surgical facility, where Dr. Sof and his team will make sure you are comfortable and relaxed before anaesthesia is administered.
Surgical Technique: Dr. Sof uses advanced techniques to remove excess skin and fat from the arms, achieving a smoother, more contoured look. Depending on your anatomy and aesthetic goals, Dr. Sof may recommend a traditional brachioplasty or a limited incision approach.
Traditional Brachioplasty: For those with significant excess skin and fat on the upper arms, Dr. Sof may suggest a traditional brachioplasty. This involves a carefully placed incision along the inner arm, from the elbow to the armpit, to remove unwanted tissue and tighten the skin, providing enhanced contour and definition.
Limited Incision Brachioplasty: For patients with moderate excess skin and fat who prefer minimal scarring, Dr. Sof may recommend a limited incision brachioplasty. This technique uses smaller, discreet incisions in the armpit area to remove tissue and tighten the skin, creating a toned look with less visible scarring.
Closing Incisions and Recovery: After the procedure, Dr. Sof will close incisions with sutures and apply dressings as needed. You’ll be monitored in recovery before going home with comprehensive post-operative care instructions. Follow-up appointments will be scheduled to track your progress and ensure a smooth recovery.
Results: As healing progresses, you’ll enjoy firmer, more toned arms with improved contour. Dr. Sof’s approach aims to deliver natural, balanced results that enhance your body shape and symmetry.

THINGS TO AVOID AFTER ARM LIFT SURGERY
The following five steps will support your recovery
- Strenuous Activities: Avoid engaging in strenuous exercises or lifting heavy objects for several weeks following surgery to prevent strain on the arms and minimise the risk of complications.
- Smoking and Alcohol: Refrain from smoking and consuming alcohol during the recovery period, as they can impair healing, increase the risk of infection, and interfere with the body's natural healing processes.
- Sun Exposure: Protect your arms from direct sunlight and UV radiation by wearing protective clothing and applying sunscreen with a high SPF to minimize the risk of hyperpigmentation, scarring, and uneven healing.
- Tight Clothing: Avoid wearing tight or restrictive clothing that may rub against the incision sites and cause irritation or discomfort. Opt for loose-fitting, breathable garments to promote airflow and facilitate healing.
- Neglecting Follow-Up Appointments: Attend all scheduled follow-up appointments with Dr. Sof to monitor your progress, address any concerns or complications promptly, and ensure optimal healing and results.
POST OP ARM LIFT SURGERY AFTERCARE
It is vital all of our patients closely follow these steps
- Follow Proper Wound Care: Carefully follow Dr. Sof's instructions for wound care, including keeping the incision sites clean and dry, changing dressings as directed, and applying prescribed medications or ointments to prevent infection and promote healing.
- Wear Compression Garments: Wear compression garments as advised by Dr. Sof to minimize swelling, provide support to the arms, and help reshape the treated area. Follow the recommended duration for wearing compression garments for best results.
- Take Prescribed Medications: Take any prescribed medications, such as pain relievers or antibiotics, as directed by Dr. Sof to manage pain, reduce the risk of infection, and support the healing process. Do not skip doses or discontinue medications without consulting Dr. Sof.
- Maintain Healthy Lifestyle Habits: Follow a balanced diet rich in nutrients, stay hydrated, and avoid excessive alcohol consumption to support the body's healing process and promote optimal recovery. Avoid smoking, as it can impair healing and increase the risk of complications.
- Attend Follow-Up Appointments: Attend all scheduled follow-up appointments with Dr. Sof to monitor your progress, assess the healing of incisions, and address any concerns or complications promptly. These appointments are essential for ensuring proper recovery and achieving the best possible results from your arm lift surgery.
"Your comfort and confidence are my priorities. Every step of your journey is guided with care and precision to ensure safe, natural results you’ll love."
