We’re all guilty of taking shortcuts sometimes when it comes to our skin. It might be that you have run out of your ever faithful skincare product and not yet got round to replacing it, or it might be that you haven’t removed your makeup properly before going to bed.
These things happen, but it’s very important to keep on top of your skincare regime and here are a few common skincare mistakes to avoid:
USING THE WRONG SKINCARE PRODUCTS
The choice of cosmetic products on the market is endless, all of which have great marketing speak, promising various outcomes. The key to choosing the right product is to focus on the ingredients within the product.
The ingredients are what deliver the results. Take anti-ageing products, for example, if you are after an anti-ageing product, to achieve your skin goals, that product would need to include antioxidants.
Our team of experts at the Renovatio Clinic can guide you towards the right products for your skin that will achieve the desired results.
NOT EXFOLIATING OR OVER EXFOLIATING
Exfoliation of the skin removes dead skin cells from the surface of your skin. As we age, our cell regeneration process slows down. Exfoliation removes our dead skin cells and reveals the fresh cells below.
However, over exfoliating can damage your skin. Products that are too gritty or harsh might lead to the removal of healthy cells. The outcome; dryness, red patches or inflammation.
Our team at the Renovatio clinic can guide you towards the right exfoliating products.
NOT USING SUNSCREEN
Using a sunscreen that protects against UVA and UVB is one of the best ways to protect your skin against premature ageing and skin cancer.
Another way to add extra protection is to use a vitamin C serum underneath your sunscreen.
Don’t just think sunscreen is simply for tanning, protect your skin from the elements at all times and reap the benefits.
NOT DRINKING ENOUGH WATER
It’s the number one rule…if your body, and consequently your skin, is dehydrated, it will look tired and dull and your fine lines will be more pronounced.
It is recommended that you drink at least two litres of water a day to hydrate and cleanse away any nasty toxins.
NEGLECTING YOUR NECK
The neck is a common area of concern for many as it’s one of the biggest giveaways of a person’s age. It’s also an area that many of us neglect. Your daily skincare regime (cleansing, exfoliating, toning, moisturising) should be carried on all the way down to your collarbone.
Our team of dedicated experts here at the Renovatio clinic, Cheshire, can guide you towards the right skincare products for your desired results.
